Classic White Frosting

Every baker needs this Classic White Frosting recipe on hand for frosting cakes, cupcakes, and cookies.

WHITE FLUFFY FROSTING

INGREDIENTS

Makes 3 cups

2/3 cup butter
1 & 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 cups powdered sugar
5 to 6 tablespoons of milk

INSTRUCTIONS

BEAT shortening, vanilla, and salt in a large bowl with a mixer on high speed until fluffy.

ADD powdered sugar, a little at a time. Beat on low speed, gradually adding milk, until evenly blended.

BEAT on high speed until smooth and creamy, about 2 minutes.

NOTE:

Milk or cream may be used in place of the water for a richer flavor. 

The recipe is perfect for dying with food coloring.
